Job Summary
Packaging Machine Operator (PMO) on the B shift (3:45pm-4am) oversees packaging room operations, operates, troubleshoots, and performs routine maintenance on packaging equipment, ensures correct film loading per production schedule, maintains machine settings for efficiency and quality, and monitors packaging materials with FIFO. Responsibilities include performing CPP monitoring to prevent allergen cross-contamination, conducting QC checks (bag seal, weight, date code, appearance), collaborating with QC/Maintenance/Warehouse, following GMP/HACCP/SQF guidelines, and adhering to preventive controls. The role also involves training and mentoring new packers, communicating shift status to leads and managers, and maintaining safe, clean, and compliant work practices (LOTO, PPE, sanitation). Prior experience in food packaging/manufacturing and forklift certification are preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Experience operating and troubleshooting high-speed packaging machinery
- Forklift certification or ability to obtain one
- Basic computer skills (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Ability to train and lead a team
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure
- Ability to communicate clearly in English (verbal and written)
- Knowledge of GMP, HACCP, and SQF standards preferred
