Job Summary
Packaging Engineer at Silgan Closures supports new product development, packaging innovation, and manufacturing optimization. You will collaborate with R&D, Engineering, Sales, Manufacturing, and Technical Service to commercialize new closures and packaging technologies, support NPI from concept through commercialization, provide technical support for closures and packaging equipment, and work with customers to resolve packaging performance and manufacturing challenges. Responsibilities include conducting root cause analyses and troubleshooting aluminum, plastic, and steel closure applications; visiting customer facilities to evaluate field performance; developing laboratory testing protocols; analyzing data with statistical methods, DOE, and Minitab; delivering training on packaging processes; and participating in industry events.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering, Packaging Science, Engineering, or a related technical field
- 2+ years of experience in food and beverage packaging, packaging engineering, or manufacturing environments
- Knowledge of food processing, packaging materials, manufacturing processes, and quality systems
- Experience with statistics, DOE, and data analysis
- Proficiency with Minitab
- Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills
- Excellent communication, project management, and customer-facing skills
- Ability to work cross-functionally with Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, R&D, and customers
