Job Summary
Support project management, operations, and engineering efforts on packaging programs by collaborating with cross-functional teams for new package design and commercialization. Develop and maintain technical specifications and Bills of Materials while defining, developing, and testing packaging elements such as plastic roll stock, cartons, thermoforming, and rigid trays. Drive productivity initiatives and participate in all project phases from ideation through commissioning and start-up, specifying materials that meet project expectations within time and budget constraints. Provide guidance to plant operations and project managers, potentially serving as a project manager on specific assignments. Requires a Bachelor's degree in Packaging with 3-6 years of food packaging experience, with 35% travel required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Packaging
- 3-6 years of experience in a Packaging Engineering capacity, preferable in food packaging
- Working knowledge in primary, secondary and tertiary packaging equipment and materials applicable to the food industry
- Working knowledge of materials: Fiber (paperboard & corrugated fiberboard) packaging development, qualification and troubleshooting
- Working knowledge of materials: Polyolefins (PE, PP, PET), their properties and use as food containers
- Understanding of distribution qualification and test methods (ISTA, ASTM, etc.)
- Ability to travel 35% of time
