Job Summary
Safely transport PACE participants to and from the Center, medical appointments, and homes using lift-equipped vans or buses. Operate vehicles professionally while assisting with boarding, exiting, and hands-on mobility support, including proper use of lifts, ramps, and wheelchair tie-downs. Complete daily vehicle inspections, manifests, and mileage logs; deliver medications and supplies as directed. Monitor participant conditions, report changes to staff, and adhere to safety policies, HIPAA, and emergency procedures. Participate in safety training and emergency drills. Maintain a courteous, culturally sensitive demeanor and professional appearance in uniform.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Valid driver's license for a minimum of five (5) years and a clean driving record that meets PACE KC standards
- Current DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate
- Must pass all pre-employment screenings, including: Criminal background check, Physical examination, Drug and alcohol screening, Fitness for Duty evaluation
- Valid authorization to work in the United States
- Documentation of required immunizations, which may include Varicella, MMR, and COVID-19 vaccinations
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience transporting clients and operating large passenger vehicles
- Ability to safely push and pull up to 150 lbs and lift up to 50 lbs
- Working knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and accessible transportation best practices
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to build rapport with participants and provide compassionate, person-centered service
- Ability to work under pressure, maintain punctuality, and meet strict timelines
Desired Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred, but not required
- Experience with older adults or individuals with disabilities strongly preferred
- Familiarity with the Kansas City metropolitan area and surrounding service region preferred
