Job Summary
Conduct comprehensive medical care for inpatient orthopedic populations by evaluating treatment plans, prescribing medications including controlled substances, and performing therapeutic measures under supervising physician privilege. Coordinate patient admission and discharge processes while facilitating continuity of care across home health, outpatient appointments, and other facilities. Provide consultation to nursing staff regarding therapeutic regimens and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized therapeutic plans. Monitor cost effectiveness and quality performance indicators, participate in clinical research studies and protocol revisions, and serve as a clinical resource for peer education. Maintain board certification, annual CME, and current expertise in orthopedics and hyperbaric wound care as applicable.
Required Qualifications
- Physician Assistant Bachelor's Degree (BA-PA)
- Current New York State Physician Assistant License
- NCCPA Board Certification
- Basic Life Support Certification through the American Heart Association
- Physician Assistant Lic-NYS
- Ntl Com Cert Physician Asst
- Basic Life Support Cert
- Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience as a physician assistant or physician assistant fellowship experience
- At least 2 years of clinical rotation in various medical, surgical and other specialty areas
- Membership in professional specialty organizations
- Advanced Life Support certification (ACLS, PALS) through the American Heart Association
- Neonatal Resuscitation certification (NRP) through the American Academy of Pediatrics
