Job Summary

Evaluate and manage pediatric neurosurgery inpatients through history/physical examinations, order entry, and documentation while working independently and as a team member. Coordinate care for patients from the pre-natal period to young adulthood, including interdisciplinary discussions for acute care neurosurgery services and consults for hospitalized patients on NICU, PICU, ED, and Newborn units. Perform bedside procedures and counsel patients on health maintenance to promote community resource utilization. Participate in weekly didactic meetings, conferences, and ongoing quality improvement initiatives. Maintain flexibility in work schedule to accommodate 12- and 24-hour inpatient shifts, clinic shifts, or variable days/weeks.

Required Qualifications

  • Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse and Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP or PNP-AC) specialty certification in the State of Michigan
  • Graduate of an accredited Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP or PNP-AC) program
  • Certification as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP or PNP-AC) recognized by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN)
  • Minimum of two years of inpatient pediatric clinical nursing experience
  • At least one year experience with pediatric neurosurgery patients
  • Master's Degree
  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant educational program
  • LIC-Physician Assistant - STATE_MI State of Michigan
  • CRT-Physician Asst Certified (PA-C) - NCCPA
  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association
  • CRT-Pediatric Adv Life Support (PALS) - AHA American Heart Association

Desired Qualifications

  • Current specialty certification to practice as an Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP-AC) with one or more years of Acute Care PNP experience
  • Three or more years clinical nursing experience with the inpatient/acutely ill pediatric neurosurgery population
  • RNFA certification for OR participation
  • Demonstrated excellent patient service, written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated continuous professional development activities/research
