Job Summary
Full-time Flex Houseparents for Milton Hershey School: a two-person, married couple live-in role supervising and guiding a cohort of ~813 students in on-campus homes. Responsibilities include daily supervision, mentorship, administering medications, driving students to activities, planning and leading developmental and recreational activities, leading daily devotions and Sunday Chapel, overseeing household routines and budgeting, and transitioning from initial nine-days-on/three-days-off duties to a placed houseparent assignment with the same student group. Requires youth-facing experience, high school diploma or GED, valid U.S. driver’s license, ability to lift up to 50 lbs, and commitment to a smoke-free and weapon-free campus with no alcohol on duty. Both spouses must be age 27+ and complete separate employment applications; relocation assistance and paid training provided; comprehensive benefits and housing/meals included. Salary perspective: $44,768 per person annually (approx. $168,000 total per couple when combined). The role emphasizes faith-based activities (Judeo-Christian chapel) and a long-term commitment to student success.
Required Qualifications
- Experience working or volunteering with youth
- This is a two-person role for couples legally married for at least two years
- Both spouses must be age 27 or older
- High school diploma or GED required
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to become certified to drive student home vans
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs.
- Comfort leading students in daily devotions and accompanying them to Judeo-Christian Sunday Chapel services (proselytizing prohibited)
- Demonstrated integrity and professionalism; MHS staff serve as role models for students
- Two-person marriage-based application requirement for consideration
