Job Summary
Part-time News Writer/Producer for WBZ NewsRadio, focusing on weekend and holiday morning newscasts. Responsible for gathering and producing morning news content, writing creative on-air copy under continual deadlines, interviewing newsmakers, selecting soundbytes, and editing actualities for broadcast. Maintains relationships with listeners, updates social media platforms, and participates in station meetings and events. Requires 3+ years in a newsroom, proficiency with Microsoft Office and broadcast tools (NexGen, Adobe Audition, NewsBoss, FCC knowledge), strong reporting and writing skills, proven accuracy under deadline pressure, and the ability to work a weekend/holiday morning schedule. Education: a 4-year college degree is preferred in Communications or Broadcast Journalism. Location: Medford, MA. Salary: $17.66-$22.08 hourly (annualized to approximately $36,693–$45,946).
Required Qualifications
- 4-year college degree preferred, in Communications or Broadcast Journalism
- 3+ years newsroom experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Proficient in media production and broadcast systems; familiarity with NexGen, Adobe Audition, NewsBoss a plus
- Strong knowledge of FCC rules and regulations
- Ability to write news copy, fact-check, and perform under deadline pressure
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work early mornings on weekends and holidays
- Ability to edit audio using Adobe Audition
