Job Summary
Weekend and holiday mornings News Writer/Producer responsible for gathering and producing weekend morning newscasts with fresh sound and news content, writing creative and relevant on-air copy under rolling deadlines, interviewing newsmakers, selecting soundbytes, and writing around them for broadcast; update social media platforms; verify facts; edit actualities for broadcast; collaborate with editors and newsroom staff; must have 3+ years newsroom experience and a 4-year college degree; proficient in newsroom tools and broadcast systems (NexGen, Adobe Audition, NewsBoss a plus); strong FCC knowledge and journalism instincts; able to work early mornings on weekends/holidays; strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work under deadlines.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years previous newsroom experience required
- 4-year college degree, preferably in Communications or Broadcast Journalism
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and social networking
- Proficient in media production and broadcast systems; NexGen, Adobe Audition, NewsBoss a plus
- Strong knowledge of FCC rules and regulations
- Excellent verbal and written communication and editing skills; proficient in grammar
- Demonstrated creativity and imagination; able to maintain composure under deadline pressure
- Ability to work early mornings on weekends and holidays
- Able to work well in a team environment; collaborative
