Job Summary
Conduct nursing care for inmates and detainees alongside a Registered Nurse, developing care plans and performing complete physical assessments. Administer prescribed medications securely while preventing drug hoarding, and periodically evaluate patient symptoms to report progress to management. Document all detainee contacts, maintain confidential medical records, and follow accreditation policies. Requires current AZ license, two years LPN experience, and ability to work without direct supervision.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Current, unrestricted license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the state the facility is located
- Competence in crisis intervention
- Competence in medical emergencies
- Competence in physical assessment
- Competence in medical nursing care
- Competence in psychiatric nursing care
- Ability to work without direct, immediate supervision in performing nursing diagnosis
- Ability to provide appropriate follow through treatment
- Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department
- Valid AZ drivers license
- Must be able to lift or carry and push/pull up to 40 lbs.
- Must be able to walk, stand, sit, bend, stoop and reach above shoulder level
- Must be able to occasionally lift or carry and push/pull up to 60 lbs.
- Must be able to work with machinery and climb
