Job Summary
Pick up items from suppliers, customers, or warehouses and deliver them to designated destinations while adhering to traffic laws and company policies. Properly load and unload cargo, secure items during transit, and plan optimized routes to minimize travel time and fuel consumption. Perform routine vehicle inspections, report mechanical issues, and complete necessary paperwork including delivery manifests and proof of delivery forms. Maintain organized records of deliveries, mileage, and fuel consumption while providing courteous service to customers. Report any accidents or issues to appropriate personnel. Flexibility to work varying schedules including evenings, weekends, and holidays is required.
Required Qualifications
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Proven experience as a delivery driver or similar role, preferably in a commercial or logistics setting
- Excellent driving skills and knowledge of traffic laws and regulations
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
- Good physical stamina and ability to lift and carry heavy objects
- Reliable and punctual with strong time management skills
- Effective communication and customer service skills
- Flexibility to work varying schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed
Desired Qualifications
- Prior experience operating delivery vehicles, such as vans, trucks, or commercial vehicles
- Familiarity with GPS navigation systems and route optimization software
- Knowledge of basic vehicle maintenance procedures
- Hazardous materials endorsement or other relevant certifications
