Job Summary
bp is seeking a P&C Payroll Specialist to support payroll services delivery across bp entities in South Africa (Johannesburg) and adjacent regions. The role involves ensuring payroll data integrity, managing Workday organization data, processing large-scale reorganisations, delivering ad hoc Workday/Cornerstone/TAS/SAP reporting, and supporting system upgrades and changes. Key duties include maintaining org units, jobs, and position master data; ensuring payroll deadlines are met; handling complex queries; generating standard and ad hoc payroll-related reports; driving continuous improvement within HR services; and managing statutory submissions (PAYE, UIF, SDL, COIDA, STATSSA) where applicable. Essential qualifications emphasize a Bachelor's degree in a related field, strong SAP knowledge, foundational Workday knowledge, statutory submissions experience, advanced Excel capabilities, and a track record in delivering payroll management, reconciliation, and organizational development within a shared service environment. Required Qualifications
- Essential Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Payroll Administration, Human Resources, Financial Management or other relevant field
- Advanced knowledge of SAP
- Foundational knowledge of Workday
- A continuous improvement approach; seeking simple, ‘best fit’ solutions to challenges
- Experience with statutory submissions (EMP201, EMP501, COIDA, STATSSA)
- Tax knowledge for South Africa payroll regulations
- Strong numerical, analytical and interpretive skills
- Ability to convey technical payroll concepts/issues to all levels
- High attention to detail and data integrity
- Advanced Excel abilities including macros
- Ability to manage payroll delivery in a multi-national shared services environment
- Experience with payroll reconciliation and data management
- Ability to work with HR systems and reporting (Workday, Cornerstone, TAS, SAP)
- Knowledge of CRM systems
- Quality customer service focus
- Ability to collaborate with internal partners and external stakeholders
- Knowledge of UIF reconciliation and leavers process
- Experience with governance, risk, and compliance in payroll processes
