Job Summary
Lead cross-functional engineering teams in the execution of TVA substation design projects, ensuring safety, quality, budget, and schedule objectives are consistently achieved. Develop and manage key project planning documents, including Project Execution Plans, Project Initiation Documentation, Communication Plans, and RFI logs, while driving accountability to scope and cost performance. Monitor and control project schedules and budgets, identifying and managing scope changes affecting cost and timeline. Proactively identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies during the proposal phase, tracking and resolving issues to minimize impact. Coordinate design and construction activities to ensure efficient information flow and participate in client meetings and substation site visits while adhering to all safety requirements. Mentor less experienced team members and provide encouragement to increase their knowledge.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution
- Professional Engineering License
- Minimum 8 years of design and/or project team leadership experience
- Demonstrated experience managing power utility substation design projects
- Strong experience in managing a team, providing encouragement and mentoring as needed to help the team increase their knowledge
- Strong working knowledge of power industry standards, practices, and processes
- Ability to manage multiple projects or a program portfolio simultaneously
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and project scheduling software
- Working knowledge of corporate accounting practices and business operations
- Strong leadership and decision-making abilities
- Independent judgment with minimal supervision
- Ability to interpret and apply scopes of work, technical criteria, and design requirements
- Exceptional organizational and prioritization skills
- Good mentoring skills
- Ability to get along with various personality types
- Professional presence and stakeholder management capability
- Proven ability to manage emergent or fast-track projects
- Willingness to attend meetings at substation sites and client facilities
- Commitment to following all Mesa and client safety protocols

- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Traveling as required to ensure all project requirements and deliverables are met
