Job Summary
Operate a Roll-Off Truck to safely pick up containers filled with waste or recyclable material and transport them to disposal, transfer, or recycle facilities. Perform pre- and post-trip inspections using the Driver Vehicle Inspection Report, documenting all issues for corrective review. Continuously monitor for safety and service-related issues, immediately notifying Route Supervisors or Dispatchers of incidents, accidents, or equipment needing repair. Communicate professionally with customers and Dispatchers, receiving complaints about schedules or service quality and responding courteously. Completely dump containers, leave customer locations clean, and position containers upright without blocking driveways. Submit customer tickets for excess yardage removal and attend all required training, meetings, and monthly safety sessions. Work an overnight shift starting between 7pm and 9pm, Sunday through Friday, with routes lasting 10 to 12 hours.
Required Qualifications
- At least 21 years of age
- Legally eligible to work in the United States
- Valid Class A or B CDL with airbrake endorsement
- Clean driving record
- At least 1 year of experience operating a vehicle requiring a CDL A or B within the last 7 years
- At least 1 year of experience driving and operating a Roll Off Truck
- Working knowledge of DOT, OSHA and applicable traffic regulations
- Ability to speak and read English well enough to converse with the general public, understand highway traffic and signals, respond to official questions, and be able to make legible entries on reports and records
- Ability to read and understand a map
- Ability to meet the physical and safety requirements of the position
- Willingness and ability to work required worked hours as allowed under DOT regulation and may include weekend, night, and/or holiday work
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Must be able to mount and dismount the truck multiple times every route
- Must be able to physically mount and dismount the truck throughout the duration of the workday
Desired Qualifications
- Experience as a Driver or Helper for a refuse company
