Job Summary
Overnight Emergency Veterinary Technician positioned to support high-acuity emergency veterinary care. Responsibilities include administering medications, performing phlebotomy, placing IV catheters, conducting physical examinations, calculating basic medical math, monitoring patients, alerting the on-call Veterinarian when status changes, and assisting with the euthanasia process. The role requires reading and following treatment orders promptly, and providing compassionate care within a fast-paced emergency setting alongside a dedicated veterinary team.
Required Qualifications
- Licensed or eligible veterinary technician in the state of Arizona
- Overnight emergency veterinary technician experience
- Ability to perform phlebotomy
- Ability to place a peripheral intravenous catheter (cephalic vein)
- Ability to read and follow treatment orders accurately
- Ability to administer medications via appropriate routes and durations
- Ability to calculate basic medical math
- Ability to monitor patient status and alert Veterinarian as needed
- Ability to perform physical examinations and document findings
- Comfort supporting the euthanasia process as needed
- Strong communication skills with Veterinarians and clients
