Job Summary
Plan, directs and supervises team members in day-to-day operations within various departments of the store. Acts as mentor and coach to ensure exceptional customer service and achievement of sales goals, staffing and selection to meet staffing needs, and adherence to Meijer standards. Drives demonstrations of the Meijer Friendly Initiative, ensures training completion, fosters a safe work environment, and maintains store appearance and product presentation aligned with prime shopping hours. Responsibilities include disciplinary actions as needed, P&L oversight, shrink reduction, and promoting career development and succession planning for team members. Occasional rotation through departments (meat, bakery, produce, deli) and strong communication to disseminate directions and sales strategies, with a focus on reliable attendance and operational leadership.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or its equivalent
- 2-3 years of related retail experience
- One year of management experience
- Rotational assignments in other areas of the store (meat, bakery, produce, deli) and customer service/product flow experience
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly with team members
- Demonstrated ability to resolve conflict and address root causes
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks
- Demonstrated ability to analyze financial and statistical information and use that information to make informed decisions
- Demonstrated ability to teach suggestive selling
- Demonstrated ability to lead an organization that practices working safely at all times
- Demonstrated ability to mentor team members in all areas including SDITs and hourly team members and team leaders
- Successful completion of all required certifications
