Job Summary
Unload trucks, open containers, stock shelves, and rotate product to ensure freshness while monitoring for mis-picked items and reporting issues. Assist customers with finding products, reaching items, and carrying heavy purchases, then tag shelves and organize stock for efficiency. Clean and restock damaged items, report new items to the scanning coordinator, and maintain compliance with dress code and hygiene standards. Work alongside teammates to ensure a smooth overnight operation under direction from store management. This physically demanding role involves lifting 100 pounds or more, operating pallet jacks or forklifts, and working in cooler or freezer environments during overnight hours.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to frequently lift, carry, push, or pull objects weighing 100 pounds or more, with or without mechanical assistance
- Ability to operate pallet jacks, forklifts, or similar material-handling equipment (with required operator certification completed prior to independent use)
- Ability to safely use sharp knives and blades to cut, trim, or grind product
- Ability to operate a cardboard baler or compactor (in accordance with applicable age and legal requirements)
- Ability to unload, lift, stock, and rotate incoming truck freight and merchandise
- Ability to work in cooler or freezer environments for extended periods
- Ability to work with and around heavy store equipment
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions with confidence
- Ability to use basic math skills, including fractions, decimals, and percentages
- Ability to communicate clearly with customers and teammates in a friendly, helpful way
- Ability to stay organized and keep up with the pace of a busy overnight shift
- Ability to maintain compliance with Hy-Vee's dress code, hygiene standards, and all company policies
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen
