Job Summary
Unload trucks, open containers, stock shelves, and rotate product to ensure freshness while monitoring for mis-picked items and reporting issues. Greet customers warmly, assist with finding products, carrying heavy purchases, and relaying feedback to the team. Organize stock for efficiency, clean damaged items, tag shelves, and report new inventory to the scanning coordinator. Maintain compliance with dress code and hygiene standards while working alongside teammates to ensure a smooth overnight operation. This physically demanding role involves lifting up to 100 pounds, standing for extended periods, and operating equipment like pallet jacks in cooler or freezer environments. Starting wage is $13.50 to $16.80 hourly.
Required Qualifications
- Must be 18+
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to frequently lift, carry, push, or pull objects weighing 100 pounds or more, with or without mechanical assistance
- Ability to operate pallet jacks, forklifts, or similar material-handling equipment (required operator certification must be completed prior to independent use)
- Ability to unload, lift, stock, and rotate incoming truck freight and merchandise
- Ability to safely use sharp knives and blades to cut, trim, or grind product
- Ability to operate a cardboard baler or compactor
- Ability to perform repetitive motions associated with dough mixing, scaling, and proofing
- Ability to work in cooler or freezer environments for extended periods
- Ability to work overnight hours
- Must complete a pre employment drug screen
- Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions with confidence
- Must be able to use basic math skills, including fractions, decimals, and percentages
- Must be able to communicate clearly with customers and teammates in a friendly, helpful way
- Must be able to stay organized and keep up with the pace of a busy overnight shift
- Must be able to maintain compliance with Hy-Vee's dress code, hygiene standards, and all company policies
