Job Summary
Respond to maintenance and service calls in guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house while performing preventive maintenance on the physical plant and mechanical facilities. Monitor life safety systems, test water samples for pool chemistry, and ensure all mechanical rooms meet cleanliness and WorkSafe BC standards. Complete maintenance requests, take equipment readings, document parts usage, and report unsafe conditions to Engineering Leadership. Handle emergency situations including fire alarms, bomb threats, and power failures by notifying appropriate authorities. Maintain logs to notify the next shift and actively participate in the hotel's environmental and sustainability initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Availability to work overnight shifts
- Knowledge of pool water chemistry
- Visa Requirements: Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
- Flexibility to work weekends, rotating shifts outside of overnight hours, extended hours, and respond to emergencies as operationally required
Desired Qualifications
- Experience as a Pool Operator
- Pool Operator certification
- Additional trade certification(s)
- Previous hospitality experience
- Experience with HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning) systems
- Demonstrated commitment to providing exceptional customer service
- Proficiency in basic computer applications and systems
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the position
- Proven ability to work independently and take initiative
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Strong attention to detail and a passion for delivering outstanding guest experiences
