Job Summary
Overnight Safety Monitor at Redmond Center shelter: responsible for maintaining a safe, secure overnight environment, patrolling the property, engaging individuals to address safety concerns, and ensuring compliance with shelter guidelines. Use trauma-informed engagement and de-escalation techniques, collaborate with the Safety Coordinator and team, assist with meals, showers, laundry, hygiene supplies, and first aid as needed, maintain cleanliness of dorms and food service areas, prepare and distribute Guest Incident Reports, and participate in mandatory trainings while building positive community partnerships.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a focus on de-escalation
- Experience in safety, security, or related fields preferred
- High level of integrity and ability to handle sensitive information confidentially
- Proficiency with basic computer systems (email and document management)
- Ability to stay calm and make decisions in high-pressure situations
- Ability to stand, walk, and patrol the property for extended periods
- May involve lifting or moving up to 25 lbs
- Primarily works overnight shifts in an indoor shelter setting
- Frequent interaction with shelter guests who may have mental health conditions or substance use disorders
