Job Summary
Overnight Residential Counselors provide safety-focused supervision for teens (ages 12–17) in 6-bed residential centers. Key duties include staying awake during the overnight shift (10:00 PM–6:00 AM), conducting wellness checks every 15 minutes, ensuring clients remain in their rooms, completing facility walkthroughs, performing light housekeeping and inventory checks, and accurately documenting shift activity in electronic medical records. The role emphasizes engagement, vigilance, and adherence to safety and health protocols within a treatment setting, with opportunities for professional development and a comprehensive benefits package. Requires a high school diploma or GED, willingness to work overnight weekends, a California driver’s license, and LiveScan/federal and state background clearances; 6–9 months of prior experience with teens in MH/substance use or similar adolescent group-home settings strongly preferred.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Must be able to stay awake all night
- Must be at least 21 years old
- 6-9 months of experience working with teens with mental health or substance abuse
- 6-9 months of experience in an adolescent group home or similar setting
- Must pass LiveScan background check and background checks
- Possess a valid California driver’s license
- Must be able to work overnight shift 10:00 PM – 6:00 AM
- All schedules require at least 1 weekend shift
