Job Summary
Review and interpret physician orders to prepare medications, weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredients while detecting therapeutic incompatibilities. Dispense pharmaceuticals by planning procedures for mixing, packaging, or labeling according to policy and legal requirements. Assess medication identity, strength, or purity and utilize computer systems to screen for drug interactions, therapeutic duplication, and allergies. Manage workflows by directing technician work flow, verifying preparations, and ensuring barcode verification. Provide pharmacological information to health care professionals and counsel patients on drug therapies. Maintain records for pharmacy files, patient profiles, and controlled substance inventories while complying with state and federal drug laws.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors of Science (B. S.) or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE)
- North American Pharmacist Licensure Exam (NAPLEX)
- Multistate Pharmacy Jurisprudence Exam (MPJE)
- State-specific license where required
- Minimal travel including overnight stay as necessary
- Meets Expectations of Excellence for position
- Supports campuses, departmental goals and the overall objectives of the Company
- Complies with all laws, regulations and standards of ethical conduct
- Performs all job duties with a friendly positive and team-oriented approach
- Maintains required licenses or certifications in good standing with the State
- Complies with all Company policies, procedures, rules and standards
Desired Qualifications
- Five (5) years' experience in a pharmacy environment preferred
- Healthcare, senior living industry or long-term care environment preferred
- Exemplary computer skills that include knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite of products
