Job Summary

Overnight Department Manager plans, directs and supervises team members in store operations during overnight shifts across multiple departments. The role acts as mentor and coach, implementing strategies to improve customer service and drive store sales while maintaining company standards and a strong store appearance. Responsibilities include staffing and hiring to meet needs, promoting career development and succession planning, documenting disciplinary actions, managing P&L and shrink, delivering exceptional customer service, training and ensuring team members complete required certifications, maintaining a safe work environment, and rotating through departments (e.g., meat, bakery, produce, deli) to support operations and product flow. The position emphasizes leadership, communication, conflict resolution, prioritizing tasks, and mentoring team members to meet or exceed sales and service goals. Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or its equivalent required
  • 2-3 years of related retail experience
  • One year of management experience
  • Rotational assignments in other areas of the store such as meat, bakery, produce and deli; also customer service and product flow experience is helpful
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate to team members, resolve conflicts, manage multiple tasks, analyze financial information, teach suggestive selling, mentor in various roles
  • Successful completion of all required certifications
