Job Summary
Conduct overnight rounds, monitor the residential milieu, and ensure client safety and security in a residential treatment facility. Assist clients with needs, perform urinalysis testing, and manage medication monitoring and compliance. Educate clients on facility rules, establish professional boundaries, and foster life skills implementation. Document actions and client needs in charts and shift logs to maintain team continuity. Serve and monitor client breakfast, wash linens, and maintain cleanliness of treatment areas. Perform additional duties as assigned by the program director. Requires one-year practical experience in drug/alcohol or mental health fields, physical ability to climb stairs and lift up to 20 pounds, and successful completion of HIPAA, 42 CFR, and CPR/First Aid certifications.
Required Qualifications
- Must maintain the highest standards of professional ethics and behavior as described in the Pathway Society handbook.
- Must be able to physically respond to clients' needs, climb stairs and walk through the facility throughout the shift
- Must pass a criminal records clearance as required the County of Santa Clara Department of Alcohol and Drugs regulations.
- Receive training and pass certification testing in the areas of HIPAA, 42 CFR and CPR/First Aid once county clearance is received.
- Climbing; ascending or descending stairs, ramps, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms.
- Kneeling; bending legs at knee to come to rest on knee or knees.
- Crouching; bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine.
- Reaching; extending hand (s) and arms above head in any direction.
- Hearing; perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction, ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make the discriminations in sound.
- Lifting; able to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects up to 20 pounds.
- Visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures and viewing a computer terminal.
Desired Qualifications
- One-year practical experience in drug/alcohol or mental health field preferred (employment, internship or volunteer work); preferred RADT, working towards certification in drug and alcohol counseling
- Basic understanding of treatment and rehabilitation techniques
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team as well as alone
- Ability to work effectively with people differing in value systems, ethnicity, cultural backgrounds, language capabilities and disabilities
- Exercise good judgment and respond calmly in emergency situations
- Ability to work effectively; independently and within a group, with limited supervision
