Job Summary

Prepare and bake artisan breads, rolls, sourdoughs, and laminated doughs from mixing through finishing, ensuring at least 75% of products are made from scratch. Execute overnight production according to standardized recipes and schedules while monitoring dough development, fermentation, and baking for consistent results. Maintain food safety and sanitation standards by following proper handling, storage, labeling, and temperature monitoring procedures. Safely operate commercial bakery equipment including mixers, ovens, proofers, and blast freezers while keeping workstations organized for seamless handover. Support continuous improvement by assisting with production planning and contributing ideas to enhance recipes and processes.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Canadian Food Handler Certification
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada

Desired Qualifications

  • 6 months to 1 year of kitchen experience preferred, in either a pastry or bakery environment
  • Strong interest in pursuing a Baker Apprenticeship (sponsored program)
  • Culinary diploma or equivalent training is considered an asset
  • Experience producing artisan breads, sourdough products, naturally fermented breads, and laminated doughs
  • Minimum 2 years of bakery production experience in a high-volume bakery, hotel, resort, or commercial kitchen
  • Strong knowledge of baking techniques, fermentation, and bread production
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing consistent, high-quality products
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently during overnight shifts
  • Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills
  • Positive attitude with a collaborative approach to working within a team
  • Basic knowledge of food safety and kitchen operations, including culinary fundamentals and baking techniques
  • Willingness to learn and take direction from senior kitchen staff
  • Comfortable receiving coaching and feedback from senior staff
  • Demonstrates eagerness to build speed, accuracy, and consistency through repetition
  • Shows curiosity and a desire to grow into line responsibilities over time
