Job Summary
Provide direct supervision, coordinate crew mobilization, and enforce safety protocols while managing supplies and equipment for electrical distribution projects. Perform rigorous physical labor including climbing, rigging, and working at heights up to 60 feet to construct, maintain, and repair energized and de-energized overhead lines. Operate heavy machinery such as bucket trucks and digger derricks, or assist with manual tasks like digging trenches, flagging traffic, and assembling materials. Read blueprints, interpret site plans, and collaborate with project personnel to execute construction schedules. Maintain company vehicles and tools in good working order while adhering to strict safety and compliance standards.
Required Qualifications
- HS Diploma or equivalent
- CDL
- Class A CDL
- Valid driver's license
- Able/willing to travel long distances on short notice
- Able/willing to work for extended periods in various locations
- Able/willing to work Overtime
- Total commitment to safety and compliance
- Experience with digger derricks, bucket trucks, trenchers, and groundwork with utility crews
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints and scopes of work
- Ability to coordinate & collaborate effectively with multiple levels within company
- Willing to travel and work away from home
- Proficient in all aspects of energized line work
- Proficient in understanding and reading blueprints
- Able to properly sag wire
- Proficient in Pole/Tower Climbing
- Proficient in all aspects of heavy lifting and rigging
- Must be familiar with induced voltage
- Understands grounding procedures
- Capable of working at heights and/or confined spaces
- Must be able to climb different types of structures (wood, steel, etc.) and possess the necessary tools to do so
- Understands how to phase out a line using phasing sticks
- Understands proper use of phasing sticks
- Able to identify and locate puller and tensioner setups
- Able/willing to function within a Team environment and share knowledge with fellow crew members as appropriate
- Capable of planning safe work based on a job print or work order
- Understands how to obtain a 'one shot' on a recloser
