Job Summary
The Overhead Crane Technician role seeks an experienced candidate with proven expertise in inspecting and servicing overhead cranes. This position involves travel throughout Southeast Michigan for OSHA-compliant inspections, maintenance, troubleshooting, and installations. Ideal candidates will have a strong mechanical and electrical background, with 5+ years in crane systems and a commitment to quality craftsmanship.
Required Qualifications
- 5 or more years of experience in the trade
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
- Ability to work independently and efficiently in the field
- Advanced knowledge of overhead crane and hoist systems
- Reliability, accountability, and pride in workmanship
- Comfortable working at heights
Desired Qualifications
- Strong mechanical and electrical diagnostic ability
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, prints, and wiring diagrams
- Familiarity with PLC and VFD programming and troubleshooting
- Excellent communication and customer interaction skills
- Professional welding capabilities including vertical and overhead
- Troubleshooting experience with AC, DC, 3-phase, single-phase, VFD, and contactor controls
- Mechanical proficiency in gearboxes, wheels, brakes, etc.
