Job Summary
Operate cab-controlled traveling cranes to lift, move, and position scrap from railcars onto the ground and load scrap from the ground into railcars for Hand Burners. Visually monitor scrap bucket weights, inspect scrap during loading, and check crane components for defects while communicating with co-workers via two-way radio and hand signals. Assist maintenance with cleaning tasks on down days and operate mobile equipment as needed. Work various rotating shift schedules outdoors in a steel mill environment with temperatures ranging from 0° F to 130° F, tolerating dust, uneven surfaces, and noise levels up to 120 decibels.

- Ability to tolerate extreme ambient temperatures ranging from 0° F to 130° F
- Ability to tolerate working in cramped quarters and at heights
- Ability to tolerate swing shift work schedule
- Ability to tolerate working in areas where noise levels can reach 120 decibels
- Ability to work in a steel mill environment, which may include dust and extreme weather conditions, and uneven surfaces
- Good communications skills
- The ability to read operating instructions
Desired Qualifications
