Job Summary
The Overdose Response Program Health Educator is responsible for identifying, coordinating, and implementing overdose prevention and response strategies addressing substance-use disorder. Key responsibilities include conducting Naloxone/Narcan training, engaging high-risk populations, managing social media for promoting training, collecting and reporting data, and participating in community outreach initiatives. Applicants must possess a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, at least two years of related experience, and demonstrate strong communication and organizational skills.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in public or community health, social work, or health promotion from an accredited college or university
- At least 2 years of experience in professional-level health education and promotion, substance-use disorder, and community engagement work
- Valid Maryland Driver's license
- Knowledge of harm reduction practice and strategy
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Strong presentation and public speaking skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Additional Requirements
- May require completion of a Criminal Background Check and/or Fingerprint screening for candidates under final consideration for trust positions
- Must complete a 6-month mandatory probation period
