Job Summary
Run day-to-day financial operations for clients, managing the general ledger, payables, receivables, payroll, collections, and financial reporting. Monitor team adherence to internal procedures, oversee onshore and offshore staff performing transactional and technical activities, and assist in preparing financial statements and budgets. Manage journal entries, reconciliations, and monthly/annual closing processes while converting customers to new systems and resolving accounting inaccuracies. Advise on technical accounting decisions, develop models for client requests, and improve internal operations through stakeholder input. Handle communications with vendors, customers, partners, and banks.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, or other similar position
- Experience in several different industries - professional services, manufacturing, construction, and healthcare
- Excellent knowledge of accounting and financial processes and of the structure necessary to run them efficiently and effectively (budgeting, financial closure, reporting etc.)
- Knowledge and experience of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
- Understanding of data analysis and forecasting
- Experience with multiple accounting systems which could include Quickbooks, Xero, Dynamics, NetSuite, Intacct, and other middle-market accounting and ERP packages
- Expert in Excel
- Well-organized with ability to prioritize
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong Attention to detail and problem-solving ability
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or a relevant field is preferred
- Experience participating in an ERP implementation is a plus
- Professional certification (e.g. CPA) is a plus
