Job Summary
Conduct outside sales activities to generate new business through cold calling, prospecting, and lead generation while maintaining an existing customer base. Prepare and deliver sales proposals, educate clients on new product lines, and resolve customer issues to drive revenue. Travel to customers and trade shows to present products, manage company vehicle maintenance, and occasionally assist with payment collections. Requires three to five years of outside sales experience, self-motivation to meet goals, and ability to work independently in outdoor conditions.
Required Qualifications
- Three to five years of outside sales (business-to-business) experience
- lumber industry experience
- A bachelor's degree or any similar combination of education and experience
- Excellent communication skills including service-oriented telephone manner
- good business presentation, selling principles, negotiation and closing skills
- Self-starter, pro-active, and the ability to take initiative
- basic math and analytical skills
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position more than 75% of the time while operating a vehicle
- Must be able to ascend/descend from a vehicle, when traveling to and from customers
- Must be able to regularly move or lift (boxes, samples, etc.) weighing up to 25 pounds
- Must be self-motivated and able to work independently to meet or exceed goals
- Must be personable, articulate, and knowledgeable
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) and organizational skills
- Ability to learn skills quickly with a mature and service-oriented attitude
- Must be computer literate, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks
- Dependable and reliable
- Must be able to exchange accurate information in situations involving customer inquiries about account status, balance, etc.
Desired Qualifications
- Must be able to move about an office setting and position self to access cabinets, copy machine, etc.
