Job Summary
Outside Sales Representative at Carter Lumber focuses on building and maintaining relationships while selling a full line of building materials and installed services to local contractors, builders, and remodelers. You’ll manage projects and customer relationships post-sale, visit job sites as needed, maintain schedules, and track customer product usage and trends. The role requires proven sales experience, knowledge of home building basics, ability to read blueprints and prepare material takeoffs, and strong communication and organizational skills. Responsibilities include creating material estimates/quotes, opening new accounts periodically, and attending industry functions; proficiency with Microsoft Office is expected. The compensation is salary plus commission with uncapped earning potential.
Required Qualifications
- Experience in sales
- Knowledge of home building basics
- Create material estimates/quotes and special orders
- Open new accounts on a monthly/quarterly basis
- Learn to read blueprints and provide material take off lists
- Ability to work independently
- Strong planning and organizational skills
- Experience with Microsoft Office suite
- Attend HBA/builder/company functions as required
