Job Summary
Outside Sales Decking Specialist at Carter Lumber focused on selling a full line of building materials with emphasis on decking products to builders and subcontractors, developing relationships, presenting product features/benefits, and performing take-offs/estimates for timely ordering and shipping; responsibilities include visiting job sites, managing customer relationships, attaining and maintaining product sales, and providing expert advice on decking product lines.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years previous knowledge and experience selling Decking products including wood, composite, pvc, a variety of railings and other outdoor living products
- Experience in other building materials helpful
- Ability to cold call future customers and to grow relationships with existing customers
- Ability to read blueprints and do take-offs with knowledge of local building codes
- Demonstrated ability to increase sales and improve profitability
- Excellent communication skills, with a strong sense of customer service
- Decision making abilities and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Reliable transportation and valid drivers license
