Job Summary
Outside Sales Representative at Crafty Beaver Home Centers in Skokie, IL, focused on lumber and building material sales to contractors, builders, and remodelers. Responsibilities include prospecting, site visits, account growth, providing consultative support on product selection, market trends, pricing, and delivery coordination; preparing bids, take-offs, and estimates; inputting orders; assisting accounts receivable; collaborating with store/operations to ensure service and follow-through. 80% field-based with 20% store presence. Travel locally ~80%. Requires strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills; experience in construction/building materials; ability to manage time in a field setting; driver’s license with clean MVR. Compensation includes base salary plus uncapped commissions, monthly commissions, and benefits.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience in outside sales, account management, or relationship-based selling
- Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
- Experience in construction, building materials, hardware, and home improvement
- Experience preparing take-offs, estimates, and bids
- Willingness to travel locally approximately 80% of the time
- High school diploma required; bachelor’s degree is a plus
- Must have valid driver’s license and clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)
