Job Summary
Review, investigate, and document 1st party property claims under close supervision while gathering information from policyholders, claimants, and third-party providers. Analyze leases, contracts, and by-laws to determine coverage for building damages and establish accurate scopes of damages for written estimates. Participate in structured training covering insurance policies, claim processes, and systems, then provide timely communication to customers and internal stakeholders while maintaining accurate records in claim management systems. Adapt to new technology implementations and system upgrades to maintain productivity and service quality. This 9-12 month program prepares candidates for independent claims handling. The role involves remote work with occasional on-site visits to Las Cruces, NM, and requires physical ability to climb ladders and inspect structures. An active adjuster license must be obtained within three months of starting.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree
- High School Diploma or GED
- one year of customer service experience
- Valid driver's license
- Willingness to obtain an active adjuster license where required by state law
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to exercise sound judgement and make effective decisions within established authority
- Exceptional customer service skills
- Attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
- Basic conflict resolution skills
- Demonstrated openness to continuous learning
- Must reside in or be willing to relocate at their own expense to the assigned territory
- Must be capable of safely climbing a ladder when deploying to a catastrophe
- Must be able to carry, set up and climb a ladder weighing approximately 38 to 49 pounds
- Must be able to walk on roofs
- Must be able to enter tight spaces (such as attic staircases and entries, crawl spaces, etc.)
- Must be able to access and inspect all areas of a dwelling or structure
- Must be able to perform other duties as assigned
- Must be able to participate in our Catastrophe Response Program, which could include deployment to assist our customers in other states
Desired Qualifications
- Previous internship or work experience in customer service or insurance
- Will to learn claims management and estimating software
- Willingness to learn techniques for facilitating productive discussions and negotiations
- Must be able to adapt to new technology implementations, system upgrades, and digital tool rollouts
- Must be able to maintain productivity and service quality while adapting to new technology
- Must be able to demonstrate openness to continuous learning, particularly in AI and digital transformation
