Job Summary
Install and blow locate string lines in underground conduit systems, then use motorized equipment to pull fiber cable and MSTs through conduits. Excavate with shovels, restore disturbed soil and landscaping, and verify accuracy while documenting fiber changes. Operate hydraulic aerial lifts, climb ladders, and perform splicing up to 144F in various cases, including drop termination closures and clearfield cassette terminations. Test fiber in the field using power meters and VFLs, troubleshoot with traffic identifier equipment, and maintain clean driving records while operating company vehicles. Work overtime as needed, including after-hours restorations, and perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 1 year telecommunication experience preferred
- Raise objects up to 50 lbs
- Remain upright on feet for extended periods
- Remain stationary for extended periods
- Ability to communicate information
- Ability to crouch and crawl
- Move on foot up to 10 miles per day
- Ability to bend, kneel, and stand
- Ability to crawl in tight spaces
- Ability to ascend/descend a ladder
- Ability to carry tools and equipment
- Ability to operate a computer
- Ability to observe details at far range
- Ability to operate hand tools and equipment
- Ability to operate machinery
- Ability to work in outdoor weather
- Identify different colors
- DOT Physical/Certification
- Possess a valid driver's license
- Travel up to 50%
