Job Summary

Design outside plant facilities locally and support ZFB Build projects through engineering design, cable sizing, and permitting. Proactively review outside plant facilities for upgrades, coordinate with utilities for joint trench projects, and attend preconstruction meetings. Manage frontline construction activities, communicate with state and local indices on planned projects, and apply for required permits across state, county, and city entities. Maintain accurate cable records, update As-Builts, prepare cost estimates, and assist in annual budget design. Collaborate with Network Planning, Central Office, and Operations teams to support facility growth and replacements. Requires a valid driver's license, ability to drive up to 2 miles in the field, and experience with outside plant design tools.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of three (3) years' experience in an outside plant position
  • Outside plant construction project management experience
  • Inventory management experience
  • Experience in ROW, private easement and permitting with local, state, and federal entities
  • Working knowledge of outside plant design, including cable count layouts and capacity planning
  • Valid State Driver's License
  • Satisfactory driving record
  • Completion of a pre-employment drug screening
  • Knowledge of outside plant activity and engineering tools to include Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, etc.
  • Organizational skills
  • Communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Customer relations skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with Engineering team, regional managers, vendors, local supervisors, and technicians
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in various stages of activity and meet critical deadlines
  • Ability to drive on behalf of the company in a safe and responsible manner
  • Currently authorized to work in the US for any employer
