Job Summary
Remove, repair, overhaul, install, and align main propulsion machinery, auxiliary systems, and associated equipment including pumps, valves, and cargo handling gear. Install and adjust control, regulating, and safety devices such as meters, governors, and alarms. Test installed machinery during dock and sea trials to prove satisfactory operation. Install foundations for operating machinery and ship armament components. Work from blueprints using hand tools, calipers, and micrometers to install propelling machinery, auxiliary motors, and steering gear. Ensure all work meets safety rules and quality standards while reporting unsafe conditions to the supervisor.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate, or GED
- Some travel required

- Ability to read and interpret documents furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form including but not limited to safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, quality manuals and procedure manuals
