Job Summary
Communicate daily with current and potential suppliers to foster relationships, develop the supplier base, and negotiate long-term contracts for ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metals. Review transactions and purchase activities to ensure proper pricing, verify scale systems, and coordinate with facilities to maximize volume and margin. Prepare competitive bids, advance payments per policy, and manage internal controls while maintaining compliance with OSHA and environmental regulations. Spend 25% of the week on business development and 25% on administrative management, including reporting and staff oversight. Requires valid driver's license and ability to travel regionally to visit facilities.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years industry sales experience
- 5-10 years' experience as a metal buyer in the scrap industry
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to drive an automobile
- 18 years of age or older (U.S. applicants)
- 16 years of age or older (Canada applicants)
- Satisfactory completion of a post-offer drug screen
- Satisfactory completion of a background check
- Review and sign an Arbitration Agreement
