Job Summary
Inspect, estimate, and negotiate first and third-party auto physical damage claims, including collision, comprehensive, and total loss settlements. Scopes assigned losses using technical expertise and company software to determine Actual Cash and Replacement values, then prepares accurate appraisals and documents damage assessments per regulatory guidelines. Manage work assignments by traveling to vehicles or equipment locations, arranging inspections, and partnering with claim professionals from initial investigation through final recovery. Negotiate value with customers and repair facilities to achieve optimal outcomes, obtain payment authorizations, and establish claim reserves. Provide inspection assistance to other business lines as needed, including catastrophe response deployments requiring extended travel.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's Degree, Bachelor's Degree or Technical School Degree
- State appraiser and claim handling licenses (where applicable)
- Valid Driver's License
- High School Degree or GED with a minimum of one year auto appraisal experience
- Two years of auto appraisal experience preferred; prior experience with insurance carrier
- Strong technical background including extensive knowledge of auto repair and repair techniques, including thorough understanding of auto terminology and construction
- Thorough knowledge of claims appraisal systems and overall claim operations
- Windows proficiency, including Excel and Word
- Strong mathematical and negotiation skills
- Ability to remain current on jurisdictional laws and regulations, and communicating compliance requirements to other claim staff as appropriate
- Commitment to continuous education
