Outreach Specialist (Syringe Services Program)

Job Summary
Outreach Specialist position within a Syringe Services Program serving Kent and Sussex Counties. Responsibilities include community-based outreach to individuals who use drugs and other high-risk populations; harm-reduction education; naloxone administration training; syringe exchange; connecting clients to treatment, healthcare, housing, and recovery resources; HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 compliant documentation; collaboration with healthcare providers and community organizations; and coordinating outreach activities. Requires High School Diploma or GED, valid Delaware driver’s license, ability to travel across Kent and Sussex Counties, CPRS credential or ability to obtain within six months, and eligibility to obtain CPRS certification. Strong communication, relationship-building, organizational, and documentation skills are essential; opportunities to work evenings/weekends and to engage with diverse populations. Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid driver’s license and ability to meet driving requirements
- Ability to travel throughout Kent and Sussex Counties
- Knowledge of harm reduction principles, overdose prevention strategies, substance use disorders, and community resources
- Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends
- CPRS Certification Requirement
- Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) credential is required or must be obtained within six (6) months of hire
- Eligible to obtain CPRS certification through the Delaware Certification Board (lived experience, training, supervision, examination requirements)
