Job Summary
The Gándara Center seeks a Community Outreach Coordinator to support individuals in recovery from substance abuse through outreach initiatives and a Peer-to-Peer Support model. Responsibilities include overseeing recreational activities at Stairway to Recovery, providing direction to volunteers, and connecting recovery community members with support services. The role requires flexibility for hours, including weekends and holidays, and participation in workshops and data collection activities. Candidates must possess communication skills and knowledge in substance abuse, with a preference for those who are in recovery for at least two years.
Required Qualifications
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Preferred to be in recovery for a period of no less than 2 years
- Valid driver’s license and dependable transportation required
Desired Qualifications
- Bilingual in Spanish, Cape Verdean Creole, or Portuguese
- Familiarity with the local recovery community, Hyannis area
- Knowledge in the field of substance abuse
