Job Summary
The Gandara Center seeks a Community Outreach Coordinator to conduct outreach within the recovery community and support individuals in recovery from substance abuse through a Peer-to-Peer Support model. Responsibilities include overseeing recreational activities, providing direction to volunteers, offering information and referrals, conducting outreach via recovery programs, enhancing community awareness through media outreach, maintaining required documentation, collaborating with other programs, participating in workshops/trainings, and collecting data for reporting. Candidates should have knowledge of substance abuse, effective communication skills, and be familiar with local recovery resources.
Required Qualifications
- Knowledge in the field of substance abuse
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Valid driver’s license and dependable transportation
- Preferred to be in recovery for a period of no less than 2 years
Desired Qualifications
- Bilingual in Spanish, Cape Verdean Creole, or Portuguese
- Familiarity with the local recovery community, Hyannis area
