Job Summary
Outpatient RN responsible for assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation of clinically competent care for an assigned group of patients undergoing hemodialysis, including potential delegation to direct patient care staff (RNs, LVN/LPNs, and Patient Care Technicians). Works within the End Stage Kidney Disease (ESKD) care team, contributing to decision-making, teaching, leadership, and quality improvement. Provides patient/family education, administers medications per protocol, participates in emergency responses, ensures proper laboratory collection/shipping, documents care plans, and supports transplant/treatment modality education. May oversee staff training and orientation; requires CAP progression to advance. Requires nursing licensure in the practicing state and CPR/BLS certification; prior nephrology nursing experience is preferred but entry-level roles exist.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
- Current appropriate state licensure
- Current or successful completion of CPR BLS Certification
- Must meet the practice requirements in the state in which he or she is employed
- Must have a minimum of 9 months experience as a RN
- Entry level for RNs with less than 2 years of Nephrology Nursing experience
