Job Summary
Outpatient RN CAP 1 entry-level position for coordinating and delivering clinically competent care to an assigned group of patients undergoing hemodialysis. Responsibilities include assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation, with delegation to direct care staff (RNs, LVN/LPNs, and Patient Care Technicians). Participates in teaching, leadership functions, and quality improvement activities as part of the ESKD healthcare team. Administers medications, initiates emergency responses, documents in the patient record, educates patients/families, and communicates treatment options including transplant and dialysis modality. Requires graduation from an accredited School of Nursing, current state licensure, CPR/BLS certification, and minimum RN experience (9 months) with at least 3 months in chronic/acute hemodialysis. Travel to training sites may be required. The role emphasizes direct patient care with a focus on safety, documentation, and collaboration with the Interdisciplinary Team. Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
- Current appropriate state licensure
- Current or successful completion of CPR BLS Certification
- Must meet the practice requirements in the state in which he or she is employed
- Entry level for RNs with less than 2 years of Nephrology Nursing experience as a Registered Nurse
- Chronic/acute hemodialysis experience (preferred)
