Job Summary
Outpatient RN position responsible for the provision and coordination of clinically competent care for an assigned group of patients undergoing hemodialysis, including assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation. Roles include potential delegation to direct care staff (RNs, LVN/LPNs, Patient Care Technicians), collaboration within the End Stage Kidney Disease care team, participation in decision-making, teaching, leadership, and quality improvement activities. Responsibilities include collecting and analyzing patient data during the dialysis cycle, adjusting treatment plans as indicated, educating patients and families, ensuring safe delivery of hemodialysis therapy, administering prescribed medications, initiating emergency responses, serving as a resource for the health care team, ensuring proper laboratory procedures, updating nursing assessments and plans of care, and communicating with the interdisciplinary team. Additional duties include transplant options discussions, CAP requirements for advancement, and travel to training sites or other facilities as needed. The role emphasizes adherence to Fresenius Kidney Care policies, nursing standards, and regulatory requirements; strong emphasis on patient safety, education, and team collaboration.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
- Current appropriate state licensure
- Current or successful completion of CPR BLS Certification
- Must meet the practice requirements in the state in which he or she is employed
- Successful completion of all FKC education and training requirements for new employees
- Must have a minimum of 9 months experience as a RN
- Must have a minimum of 3 months experience in chronic/acute hemodialysis as a RN
