Job Summary
Conduct outpatient hemodialysis therapy for assigned patients, performing pre-, during-, and post-treatment assessments, data collection, and treatment plan modifications. Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to educate patients and families on transplant options and treatment modalities while administering medications and initiating emergency responses. Document nursing assessments, care plans, and laboratory collection procedures in patient medical records. Delegate tasks to direct patient care staff including LVNs, LPNs, and Patient Care Technicians under supervisor and clinical educator guidance. Participate in staff training, orientation, and quality improvement activities to enhance patient care outcomes and facility operations.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
- Current appropriate state licensure
- Current or successful completion of CPR BLS Certification
- Must meet the practice requirements in the state in which he or she is employed
- Must have a minimum of 9 months experience as a RN
- Must have a minimum of 3 months experience in chronic/acute hemodialysis as a RN
- Entry level for RNs with less than 2 years of Nephrology Nursing experience as a Registered Nurse
- Must be able to lift 200 lbs. with assistance
- Must be able to lift chemical and water solutions of up to 30 lbs. as high as 5 feet
- Must be able to bend over
- Must be able to stand for prolonged periods
- Must be able to move patients and assist with ambulation
- Must be able to perform essential functions in other locations with the same physical demands
- Must be able to work in an environment with moderate noise levels
- Must be able to work in an environment with air temperature control
- Must be able to work in a health care facility
- Must be able to interact with patients, facility/hospital staff and physicians
- Must be able to perform desk work and computer work
- Must be able to be exposed to infectious and contagious diseases/materials
- Must be able to complete CAP requirements to advance
