Job Summary
Conduct outpatient hemodialysis therapy for assigned patients, performing ongoing data collection, treatment plan adjustments, and medication administration. Assess patient learning needs to provide education to patients and families, while documenting outcomes and updating care plans through interdisciplinary collaboration. Direct and coordinate daily patient care activities for direct and ancillary staff, including delegation of tasks to LPNs, LVNs, and Patient Care Technicians. Initiate emergency response measures and ensure accurate laboratory collection and shipping procedures. Manage patient awareness regarding transplant and treatment modality options.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
- Current appropriate state licensure
- Current or successful completion of CPR BLS Certification
- Must meet the practice requirements in the state in which he or she is employed
- Must have a minimum of 9 months experience as a RN
- Must have a minimum of 3 months experience in chronic/acute hemodialysis as a RN
- Entry level for RNs with less than 2 years of Nephrology Nursing experience as a Registered Nurse
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
- Must be able to lift chemical and water solutions of up to 30 lbs
- Must be able to lift machines and equipment of up to 200 lbs
- Must be able to bend over
- Must be able to stand for prolonged periods
- Must be able to move patients and assist with ambulation
- Must be able to move machines and equipment with assistance
- Must be able to work in a health care facility environment
- Must be able to be exposed to infectious and contagious diseases/materials
- Must be available for travel to training sites or other facilities
- Must be available to provide essential functions of this position in other locations
