Job Summary

Conduct outpatient hemodialysis therapy, administer medications, and perform ongoing patient assessments for assigned groups. Collect and analyze pre-, during-, and post-treatment data to modify treatment plans and document in medical records. Educate patients and families on learning needs, transplant options, and treatment modalities while ensuring accurate laboratory collection and shipping. Direct Patient Care Technicians, LVNs, and LPNs as a Team Leader or Nurse in Charge, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team on care outcomes. Initiate emergency responses and participate in staff training and quality improvement activities. Complete Clinical Advancement Program requirements to advance within the organization.

Required Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
  • Current appropriate state licensure
  • Current or successful completion of CPR BLS Certification
  • Must meet the practice requirements in the state in which he or she is employed
  • Must have a minimum of 9 months experience as a RN
  • Must have a minimum of 3 months experience in chronic/acute hemodialysis as a RN
  • Must be flexible to float to sister clinics
  • Must be able to lift 200 lbs. with assistance
  • Must be able to lift chemical and water solutions of up to 30 lbs. as high as 5 feet
  • Must be able to bend over
  • Must be able to stand for prolonged periods
  • Must be able to move machines and equipment with assistance
  • Must be able to handle exposure to infectious and contagious diseases/materials
  • Must be able to work Monday-Saturday 4:30am-7pm
  • Must be able to work 20 hours per week at this location and 20 hours floating
  • Must be able to perform essential functions under the direction of the Supervisor
  • Must be able to collaborate with direct and ancillary patient care staff
  • Must be able to administer medications as prescribed
  • Must be able to initiate or assist with emergency response measures
  • Must be able to serve as a resource for health care team
  • Must be able to participate in staff training and orientation of new staff
  • Must be able to ensure correct laboratory collection, processing and shipping procedures
  • Must be able to identify expected outcomes
  • Must be able to ensure patient awareness related to transplant and treatment modality options
  • Must be able to complete CAP requirements to advance
  • Must be able to perform all other duties as assigned by Supervisor

Desired Qualifications

  • Chronic/acute hemodialysis experience (preferred)
  • Less than 2 years of Nephrology Nursing experience as a Registered Nurse
  • Previous dialysis experience
