Job Summary
Conduct comprehensive assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients undergoing hemodialysis, including pre-, during-, and post-treatment data collection and documentation. Administer medications per approved algorithms, manage emergency responses, and ensure accurate laboratory collection and shipping. Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to update nursing care plans, educate patients and families on treatment options, and delegate tasks to direct care staff. Provide initial and ongoing education to address learning needs while participating in staff training and quality improvement activities. Requires 9+ months of RN experience with 3+ months in hemodialysis; successful completion of Fresenius Kidney Care Clinical Advancement Program (CAP) requirements is necessary for advancement.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
- Current appropriate state licensure
- Current or successful completion of CPR BLS Certification
- Must meet the practice requirements in the state in which he or she is employed
- Must have a minimum of 9 months experience as a RN
- Must have a minimum of 3 months experience in chronic/acute hemodialysis as a RN
- Entry level for RNs with less than 2 years of Nephrology Nursing experience as a Registered Nurse
- Must be able to lift 200 lbs.
- Must be able to lift chemical and water solutions of up to 30 lbs.
- Must be able to bend over
- Must be able to stand for prolonged periods
- Must be able to move machines and equipment with assistance
- Must be able to assist with patient ambulation
- Must be able to handle exposure to infectious and contagious diseases/materials
- Must be able to travel to training sites or other facilities
- Must be able to provide essential functions of this position in other locations

- Chronic/acute hemodialysis experience (preferred)
